Instead, you’ll now find yourself with a very slight adjustment because Searcys at The Gherkin in the City of London is now located just across the road at Horizon 22, the UK and Europe’s tallest event space. In January 2026 Searcys at The Gherkin closed its doors for good and became Searcys at Horizon 22 and it’s a brilliant swap.

Meanwhile, the Gherkin no longer hosts weddings or events at all.

Better Views: The Gherkin is dwarfed by Horizon 22. The Gherkin is only 180m tall with 41 floors. Your wedding at the Gherkin would have been on the 40th floor for the ceremony and the 39th floor for the reception. At Horizon 22 you’ll be on the 58th floor of the 278m high building which is the highest event space in London so you’ll have the best views in London as the backdrop to your wedding.
More Space to Play With: Unlike a Searcys’ wedding at the Gherkin, a Searcys’ wedding at Horizon 22 has everything on one floor and you have an enormous 817 square metres of space to play with. The space is completely empty with a ginormous screen, endless decor and furnishings for hire and all the techie facilities you need. At the Gherkin you only have around 150 square metres of event space so there’s no comparison.
More Options For Small Weddings: For more intimate guest lists, you’ll have more and better options at Horizon 22. At the Gherkin, small weddings had the extra option of a private room on the 38th floor. At Horizon 22, small weddings have the extra option of top Gordon Ramsay Restaurants on the top floors of the building, floors 60 and floors 59, for jaw dropping views as well as other options.
Bigger Guest List:
Tons more square footage means you can have a far bigger guest list at Horizon 22 than at the Gherkin where the wedding list was limited to 130 seated and 250 standing.
